Alyssa Floresca, LCSW-S earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from Southern Methodist University and her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Alyssa’s clinical foundation is rooted in trauma-informed care and crisis intervention. She spent six years as a crime victim advocate and on-scene crisis support specialist for a local law enforcement agency, followed by four years as a counselor at the Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County. Since earning her LCSW in 2015, she has focused on helping children and youth navigate the complexities of trauma, resiliency, and emotional growth through her outpatient mental health practice until joining Blossoming Brains in 2026.
Alyssa believes that even the youngest minds possess immense strength when given an empathetic guide. She practices from a holistic, solution-focused perspective to help families achieve mental wellness. Certified in TF-CBT and Traumatic Grief, she specializes in supporting children and college students through all ranges of loss—from significant trauma and witnessing crime to more general life transitions like a friend moving or a divorce. Alyssa has a particular heart for Gifted and Talented (GT) and “Twice-Exceptional” (2e) students; having been a GT student herself, she deeply understands the unique pressures and social anxieties these high-achievers face, especially when transitioning to the independence of college. Her work also extends to helping children with ADHD and generalized anxiety build practical executive functioning skills, often integrating this support directly into the home environment to help families organize routines and study spaces. She is happy to offer short-term, 1-2 session consultations for parents looking to process a new diagnosis or refine their family management strategies.
Furthermore, she offers a unique expertise in Veterinary Social Work, providing specialized care for the human-animal bond and pet loss, and is certified to provide Emotional Support Animal (ESA) accommodation letters. To learn more about this service, visit our page here!
When she isn’t supporting her clients or networking for Blossoming Brains, Alyssa is likely running around town with her husband and two young children. She is currently putting her knowledge of behavioral reinforcement to the test while training her Bernedoodle, Misha—a project that requires plenty of patience and even more treats! A fan of immersive storytelling, Alyssa also enjoys video gaming, watching movies, and exploring the local DFW scene for new favorite restaurants and shops.
